June 29: Minneapolis Pops Orchestra opens 75th anniversary season at Lake Harriet

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minneapolis Pops Orchestra will present its 75th anniversary season of free outdoor concerts Saturdays and Sundays from June 29 through July 28 at the Lake Harriet bandshell, 4135 W. Lake Harriet Pkwy. in Minneapolis.

The Saturday concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. while the Sunday concerts begin at 5:30 p.m.

The Pops Orchestra musicians are members of Twin Cities Musicians Union Local 30-73 and are drawn from the region’s leading professional orchestras.

The Pops will be led by a new music director this year, Russell Gray.

Two previous music directors — Jerry Lenz and Philip Brunelle — will reunite with the Pops for a special 75th anniversary concert July 13.
