MINNEAPOLIS — Heather Edelson won a special election May 14 for the District 6 seat on the Hennepin County Board. She was endorsed May 8 for the special election by the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, AFL-CIO at its monthly delegate meeting.

District 6 includes west Minneapolis suburbs. The seat became vacant upon the resignation of Chris LaTondresse last September.

Edelson, Edina, is a three-term member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. The Minnesota AFL-CIO’s legislative scorecard gives her a lifetime voting score of 97 percent on working family issues (through the 2023 legislative session). She will resign from the state legislature in order to serve on the Hennepin County Board.

Edelson’s win in the special election means that she will serve out the remainder of LaTondresse’s term, which runs to the end of 2024.

The District 6 seat will be on the ballot again this November for election to a full four-year term.

The MRLF will conduct a new candidate screening process for the District 6 seat for the November election.
