MINNEAPOLIS —The Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation has hired Alfreda Daniels as a new community organizer. Daniels began her job June 1 and will be working with union members in the northwest Minneapolis suburbs.
Daniels comes to the MRLF from Brooklyn Park-based African Immigrant Services, where she worked first as a volunteer and then as a staff organizer on education, social issues and immigration issues.
“I was looking for a whole different experience in organizing,” she said about joining the MRLF staff. “I wanted to build on that skill.”
Daniels is a native of Liberia. “I left when I was seven due to the war,” she related. She came to the United States as part of a refugee program.
Daniels is a graduate of Big Lake High School and St. Cloud State University, where she studied international relations, political science and human relations.
Contact Daniels at 612-379-4206 ext. 105 or alfreda@minneapolisunions.org.
