pass school levy
From the Minneapolis Labor Review, November 18, 2016
MINNEAPOLIS — The school levy on the ballot in Minneapolis November 8 passed overwhelmingly with 83.43 percent of voters voting “yes.”
The levy would generate $74 million annually for the Minneapolis Public Schools and is a renewal of a levy set to expire after the 2016-2017 school year.
The Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, AFL-CIO along with the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers recommended a “yes” vote.
The renewal of the levy is not expected to result in a tax increase.
Revenue from the levy will help to maintain current staffing levels and class sizes.
